Following expiry of his interim bail period, former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana surrendered before the CBI court here on Thursday.
It may be mentioned that Mopidevi was granted interim bail from December 24 to January 2 to visit Sabarimala as he had undertaken the Deeksha of Swamy Ayyappa. The court remanded him to judicial custody till Friday. Later, he was shifted to Chanchalguda Central Prison.
It may be mentioned that Mopidevi was arrested by the CBI on charges of irregularities in the Vanpic segment of disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Meanwhile, several leaders including PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana met Mopidevi at his residence on the last day of his interim bail period on Wednesday. Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana and other ministers too called on him at his Ministers’ Quarters residence. (INN)
