Labour Minister Danam Nagender has opined that former Excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana was made a scapegoat as he belonged to backward classes.
Reacting to the arrest of Mopidevi Venkataramana, the Labour Minister exuded confidence that Mopidevi would come out clean from the case and rejoin the State cabinet. He opined that as a minister concerned, Mopidevi had just signed the note file, which was approved by the cabinet. Later, it was found that the note was faulty. He also said that no minister would refuse when Chief Minister asked him to sign on the file in the interests of the State.
Nagendar said that the Chief Minister and the government have moral responsibility to save Mopidevi Venkataramana, who was innocent. “We have asked the Chief Minister to file a petition in the Supreme Court on the issuance of notices to six ministers by it. (NSS)
