Former Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao was admitted to a private hospital on Sunday after he complained of uneasiness due to high blood pressure. Later in the evening, he was discharged from the hospital.
On the third day of CBI custody on Sunday, Mopidevi complained that he was suffering from breathlessness and uneasiness due to increase in blood pressure. He was immediately rushed to the Care Hospital at Banjara Hills from Dilkusha Guest House, where he was lodged under CBI custody for questioning. He was arrested on May 24 in the disproportionate assets case against YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy. He has been charged by the CBI for irregularities in the allotment of lands for VANPIC project. On the same day he resigned from the State Cabinet.
The CBI Special Court has granted five-day custody to Mopidevi till May 29.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi, Infrastructure Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao and Endowments Minister C Ramchandraiah called upon the family members of Mopidevi. Later, talking to reporters Chiranjeevi hoped that Mopidevi would come out clean from all the charges levelled against him by the CBI. (INN)
