Washington. May 9 (ANI): After a month of its launch, a Facebook Phone by HTC is on sale for just 99 cents with a two year AT&T contract. The reason for having a dedicated device to provide a more pleasant Facebook experience is to merely keep the users hooked on to the site, reports Slate. According to Slate, the reason for the dip in sale price is not announced by the mobile phone maker HTC, but it is presumed to be the inability of the product to strike a chord with the consumers.
Price dip to 99 cents is a big bargain for the users. However, it may not be a good move for the reputation of Facebook, the reports said. Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg would be unaffected as he is pitching in other smartphone makers to produce devices with Facebook home, Slate said. Selling the phone at such a dipped price would mean a reason to be hooked on to the site all the more. No loss for Facebook but for HTC, now it is a matter not of price but of volume. (ANI)
