New Delhi, May 28: The south-west monsoon is expected to bring rains in Kerala by Monday and it is likely to advance to coastal Karnataka and parts of Tamil Nadu in the first week of June.
In its forecast, the Indian Meteorological Department said the onset of the monsoon over Kerala would occur around May 31. IMD had on May 14 said the monsoon would hit Kerala by May 30 with a model error of plus or minus 4 days.
“Interpretation of latest meteorological conditions and also guidance of NWP (numerical weather prediction) model indicates that onset of monsoon over Kerala would occur around May 31,” the forecast said.
The IMD report said the preliminary analysis of data indicates that mean monthly temperature of March and April are highest during the last 100 years.
