Mumbai: As pre-monsoon showers lashed Mumbai on Saturday morning, the Met Department said the arrival of monsoon might take a few more days.
“Rainfall in Chembur isn’t monsoon rains, these are just pre-monsoon showers,” the MeT Department told ANI.
Meanwhile, the pre-monsoon showers have brought some respite to the people in Jammu and its surrounding areas from the scorching heat.
According to the Met Department, these were pre-monsoon showers and till the end of this month, showers will occur frequently after the temperature rises.
The monsoon is likely to hit Jammu and Kashmir in first week of July.
Following the rain in Jammu, there has been a drop of nearly 4 to 5 degrees Celsius temperature since yesterday evening.
Monsoon is likely to reach Bihar within a week.
The MeT office said monsoon will hit eastern Bihar by June 18 and will cover the entire state including Patna by June 20.
Heavy rain lashed almost all parts of Kerala during the past 24 hours, as monsoon gained momentum.
The MeT office said heavy to very heavy rain will continue in the state till Monday.
Meanwhile, the government has activated District Emergency Operations Centres (DEOC) to monitor monsoon-related calamities.
The DEOCs will function round-the-clock keeping a constant tab on weather warnings and relay these to the various district-level agencies for rapid action. (ANI)
