Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department said on Tuesday the much awaited southwest monsoon is all set to hit the city on June 10, and with this will mark an end to this year’s summer’s scorching heat in the city.
The Meteorological officials said, “Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana from June 8-June 10.”
The city received moderate rainfall of 21 mm over the last 24 hours lowering the temperature in the city to below 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature in the city dropped with these moderate rains throughout the city. According to the Met Department, rains will increase all over Telangana State.
The Met officials from Hyderabad said, “This would enhance the rain over both the Telugu-speaking states. Under the trough’s influence, there would be a few moderate to heavy showers over the capital city”.
Private weather forecasting units like Skymet said a weather system is forming over the eastern corridor of the city. Mahesh Palawt Chief Meteorologist at Skymet said “Under its influence, there are chances of heavy rains in the city over the next 48 hours. There are chances of the city receiving 99% rainfall”.
