Mongolia, October 26: Mongolia’s ruling party says Prime Minister Bayar Sanjaa has asked to resign for health reasons.
A party chief said Monday that Bayar Sanjaa’s request must still be approved by the speaker of the landlocked Asian nation’s parliament.
Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party General Secretary Khurelsukh Ukhaa said party leaders would meet Wednesday to discuss the political situation in the country.
Bayar Sanjaa has previously sought treatment overseas for liver problems due to a hepatitis C infection and was hospitalized again last week in the Mongolian capital, Ulan Bator.
Mongolia has struggled to cope with plummeting mineral prices, which have hit the economy hard.
