Thiruvananthapuram, November 14: Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily today said that he is working on his second book titled ‘Draupadi’, based on the epic Mahabharata.
Speaking on ‘Epics and the Indian Imagination’ at the ongoing Hay festival here, Moily said his wife was the one who asked him to write a book about Draupadi, whom he considers a very powerful character in the Mahabharatha.
‘Once my work is out women will have to think how they can reconstruct society. Draupadi is a very powerful character who destroys a system to create another one,” he said.
Moily said it was his mother who motivated him to write, the outcome of which was his previous work ‘Sree Ramayana Mahanveshanan.’
“Valmiki Ramayana is the inspiration for my writings on Ramayana. But the characters are my own. They are not imitative,” he said.
