New Delhi, September 12: The Congress party is yet to make up its mind on who will be the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
But an indication that YS Rajashekhara Reddy’s son Jagan Mohan Reddy was still in the race came through from state incharge Veerappa Moily.
Do feel somewhere down the line that those scenes just 24 hours after YSR’s death, the support for Jagan Mohan Reddy was in good taste?
Veerappa Moily: When the state feels orphaned they look for some one who can come to their rescue. In that emotional upsurge they propose some body. You can’t call it lobby as such. Ultimately whatever decisions we take… it will be in the best interest of the state of Andhra.
I have seen his work and he is a very successful entrepreneur, very successful person who launched his own newspaper and news channel.
The Congress party has often been criticised for being a dynastic party… that only dynasty rules. There is a fear that if Jagan Mohan Reddy is made the Chief Minister then similar demands can come from elsewhere for example Haryana or Delhi. You have the chief ministers’ sons also in the same profession. Do you think it will open up a Pandora’s Box?
Veerappa Moily: This kind of word or coining the word like dynasty depends from state to state, case to case. The situation of Andra is incomparable.
