Kolkata, March 21: Striker Edeh Chidi struck twice in the first half to help former champions Mohun Bagan beat Pune FC 2-0 and brighten their semi-final prospects in the IFA Shield, at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan here today.
In another group B match, Chirag United enforced a 3-0 victory against Techno Aryan to keep their hope for reaching the last-four stage alive.
Bagan now lead the table in group B with seven points from three matches while Pune FC stayed put at three points after two encounters.
Chirag are placed at fourth place with three points from as many matches while Techno Aryan are out of contention having managed just one point from three ties.
The Bagan-Pune FC match saw the latter starting with a bang and came close to scoring as early as in the 2nd minute.
But striker Edmar Figuera failed to connect an easy chance.
