The Supreme Court today ruled that the film actor Mohan Babu need not surrender his ‘Padma Shri’ title, and stayed the High Court order. The apex court’s order follows an affidavit filed by Mohan Babu assuring the court that he will not use the title in his movies, and he will also get the title removed from his earlier movies.
It may be recalled that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had earlier ordered that the actor surrender his title and stop using it to promote his films, following a complaint by the BJP leader N Indrasena Reddy that the actor misused the title to promote his movie ‘Denikaina Ready’.(NSS)
