55-year old Mohammed Rafi sells seasonal fruits on his pushcart; it is the bread and butter of his 10-member family. Mohammed Rafi hails from Tandur where he used to work as agricultural labour in fields. When the earning as a labour proved insufficient, financial problems brought him to Hyderabad. He is working as a fruit vendor for 20 years. He opined that new tools and machines and modern ways of farming have cut out the role of labour from agriculture sector to a great extent.
Since he arrived in Hyderabad, he is residing in a 1-room house at Talab Katta with his wife and 8 children. 2 out of 8 children work in shops while the others are studying in government schools. One of his daughters got married but her marriage burdened him with loan. Nevertheless he is thankful to Allah that He has blessed him with the wealth of good health. Regarding his good health he feels that his hard work sweats diseases out of his body.
