Mohammed Launches Redesigned FNC Website

Abu Dhabi, October 22: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched the new website of the Federal National Council on Wednesday.

The launch took place in the morning, following the opening of the fourth ordinary session of the 14th legislative chapter of the council. The new site — www.almajles.gov.ae — has been redesigned to present comprehensive information about the UAE’s constitution and the mandate of the FNC. It also provides an overview of the FNC’s legislative and regulatory functions and its various activities
and publications.

The website’s most distinguishing characteristic is its interactive nature. It allows citizens to submit complaints against federal government entities, which the FNC will review and take action based on the legislative criteria.

Secretary-General of the council Mohammed Salem Al Mazroui said: “The new website is aimed at providing a faster and efficient way for UAE nationals to find all the information they require about the FNC, its mandate and decisions. The website’s functionality will improve communication between the FNC and citizens, and thus allow us to respond to their views and needs.”

Moreover, there is a dedicated, password-protected page for FNC members to access official documents which will minimise dependency on paper usage and reduce delivery time of materials. The agenda of the next FNC meeting is also uploaded on the website prior to the meeting. An interactive map showing the FNC’s location in Abu Dhabi has also been included. On the opening day of the council session, FNC Speaker Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair said the council turned a new leaf in its history on Wednesday.

“The recent constitutional amendments were an advanced step in our drive to enhance the place of our house and its efficiency in playing its legislative and supervisory role.”

The house, he said, had seen long, heated debates which had pushed the federation’s development march to new heights and the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has become a model to be emulated and a centre for cultural and human
interaction. He also thanked Shaikh Khalifa and other UAE leaders for the unflagging support to the FNC. “We hope this will continue especially in regard to the gradual empowerment of the house’s legislative and supervisory powers to deliver its mission properly.”

The opening session of the council was attended by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Shaikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, other Shaikhs, ministers, top officials, dignitaries and diplomats.
