Modi talks as if he owns Gujarat: Samajwadi Party

Reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi”s statement that the farmers in Uttar Pradesh were in the worst condition in the country and that the Samajwadi Party is a Samaj ‘virodhi’ Party, SP leader Ranjendra Chaudhary on Sunday said that Modi spoke as if he owned Gujarat. “Modi talks as if he owns Gujarat. Does he even know anything about farmers? He deludes people, is a master of lies because UP farmers are in harmony with the government,” said Chaudhary. SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that politics of the nation started on Uttar Pradesh and ended there and that Modi was talking in terms of a farmer. “Politics of the nation starts on UP and end here. Politicians are born in UP; farmers are born in Gujarat,” said Agarwal. “Narendra Modi is talking in terms of a farmer. When Vajpayee was in the PM’s position, how much development took place in UP, I would like to ask Modi,” he said. “A non-political person’s statement will be non-political. A person who is hyped by the media will never be successful among people,” he added. Earlier in the day, Modi in a rally in Meerut had said that the law and order situation in the state was not upto the mark. “It seems that the names of political parties in UP have changed and the Samajwadi Party is now a Samaj Virodhi Party,” said Modi. “In the last one year more than 1.5 lakh complaints of violence against women have been lodged in the state, we will give you violence free UP,” he said. “If Mulayam and Akhilesh wanted to contest with him then they should do it on the development front,” he added.
