Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has stepped in to solve the leadership crisis in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to reports, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi might be brought in for a party post after the forthcoming state elections.
The RSS might also press for Nitin Gadkari as BJP’s President for one more year.
Sources say Plan B that is being considered involves offering the party President’s post to either Sushma Swaraj or Arun Jaitley.
Claiming Modi has the potential to become both party chief and Prime Minister, Gadkari had earlier said he would support any such future move. He had also ruled himself out of the prime ministerial race.
Gadkari, whose term as party chief ends in December, had denied he was seeking an extension.
