Modi staring at BJP’s defeat in Gujarat, that’s why talking irrelevant things: Surjewala

Gandhinagar: Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Wednesday said the Prime Minister was “baffled” on seeing the BJP “losing” the Gujarat elections and that’s why he is forced to resort to making irrelevant statements and talking about everything else other than Gujarat.

Speaking to the media, Surjewala said, “If he would have reacted to the statements made by his own party members like Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie and Shatrughan Sinha, rather than reacting to Congress, that would have been better. When he talks about internal democracy within the party, he should be talking about what happened to Lal Krishna Advani, Keshubhai Patel, Anandiben Patel, the murdered leader Haren Pandya, Kanshiram Rana, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sanjay Joshi.”

“It is because he is baffled about the BJP’s huge loss in the state assembly elections. We can understand the Prime Minister’s confusion. We request the Prime Minister in a statement that though you may lose the decency of words and break political boundaries and precedents, we are Gandhi’s heirs, and as Mahatma Gandhi taught us, against all your violence, we will answer with non-violence, against all your ‘goondagardi’, we shall answer with decency, this is Rahul Gandhi’s simplicity and his way,” added Surjewala.

“Now the country has two models, one model which changes his dress four times a day, wears a Rs 10 lakh suit and has it auctioned for Rs 4 crore, which depends on ‘Jumla’ speeches and sweet tongue. Whereas the other model is of Rahul Gandhi and Congress model, which is simplicity and honesty. It is because of this, that after their 42 months at the Centre and 22 years of state government’s bad governance, now the country has decided to vote for Congress.

“Looking at defeat in front of him, the Prime Minister is flabbergasted. Don’t fear. If you had really carried out development then you would not have to talk about the Mogul era to China, rather you would have talked abut Gujarat’s people, farmers, youth, shopkeepers, Dalits, backward castes. This depicts your confusion and your defeat in the elections.”
