Modi should know who killed my husband: Mrs pandya

Ahmedabad,August 31:Slain BJP leader Haren Pandya’s widow Jagruti Pandya has asked Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leader LK Advani to take up the challenge and ensure that the real killers are brought to book.

Jagruti Pandya demanded that Modi and Advani seek reinvestigation in
the case.”This should not be my personal fight but it should be Modi’s crusade too,” she said.

“After acquittal of those arrested, it is now clear that my husband’s real killers are still roaming free in the streets. This has ended my patience… I want the truth about my husband’s murder to be out and I want his real killers to be caught,” Jagruti told the media.

In 2010, Jagruti had written to Modi, seeking his cooperation for reinvestigation in the case.

“After this verdict, chief minister should declare his quest for my justice as his cause, his crusade,” she said, trying to put the ball on Modi’s court.

Stressing that her husband was killed during BJP’s rule in the state and centre, she said, “When my husband was killed, the BJP was in power in Gujarat and at the centre so party leaders should lend support for my quest for justice.”

“I seek support of entire Gujarat, entire BJP and all of you to ensure that the real culprits, those who killed my husband are caught and punished and my husband gets justice, at least in his death,” she said.

On Tuesday, Gujarat high court acquitted all the 12 accused who were convicted by a Pota court after trial in 2007.

The trial court had handed over life imprisonment to nine of the 12 convicts, who were arrested by the CBI, which probed the case.

Pandya was killed on March 26, 2003 near a public garden where he had gone for a morning walk.

The CBI held that his murder was meant to avenge killings of Muslims during 2002 communal riots in the state.
