Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched Mission Bhagiratha, the flagship scheme of Telangana Government, aimed at providing piped drinking water to every household in the State.Modi unveiled a pylon to launch the first phase of the flagship scheme at Komatibanda village in Gajwel of Medak district. The Prime Minister also formally turned a tap to launch the project for supply of drinking water to 243 villages in Gajwel constituency represented by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Modi, who is on his maiden visit to Telangana, also remotely inaugurated or laid the foundation stone for various projects in different parts of the state that include Kottapalli-Manoharabad railway line, NTPC power plant, Fertilizer plant in Karimnagar district and Kaloji Rao Health varsity in Warnagal. Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan, the Chief Minister, Union Ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth Kumar, Suresh Prabhu, Piyush Goel and Bandaru Dattatreya also attended the programme. Modi said that the Centre had always extended every sort of help and promised to do so in the future also. He praised the TRS government for taking up various social welfare schemes. (Photo: Zabi)
