Modi gifts Obama his book

Ahmedabad, May 18: United States has denied visa to Gujarat Chief Minister on account of 2002 riots, but the White House did accept a book gifted by Narendra Modi to President Barak Obama recently .

Obama thanked Modi for the book — authored by the Chief Minister himself — in a letter that arrived a couple of days ago, official sources said today.

Modi had sent the book, `Convenient Action: Gujarat Initiatives’, to Obama last month.

This is seen as an attempt by Modi to reach out to the Obama administration. Modi was denied visa by the US government in 2005 for his alleged inaction during the 2002 riots.

“Obama has accepted the gift and sent a letter of thanks to the Chief Minister,” officials said.
