Modi congratulates Putin on his victory in Presidential elections

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday made a phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin and congratulated him on his victory in Presidential elections.

Putin won the recently-concluded Russian Presidential elections paving way for his fourth term.

Conveying his compliments on Putin’s victory, Prime Minister Modi expressed hope about the growth of special and privileged strategic partnership between India and the Russian Federation under Putin’s leadership.

The Prime Minister further extended an invitation to Putin to participate in the upcoming Annual Summit in India later this year. In response, President Putin thanked Prime Minister Modi for his wishes.

He further conveyed his commitment to strengthening Indo-Russia bilateral relations in all the spheres while extending his good wishes for the continued progress of India and its citizens.

Putin secured 74 percent of presidential votes polled according to a state-run exit poll.

He has been holding the Presidential office of Russia since 2012 after winning three Presidential elections consecutively. (ANI)
