Modi beats Yeddyurappa in corruption

Ahmedabad, September 10: The Leader of Opposition in state Assembly, Shaktisinh Gohil, on Friday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Narendra Modi, saying he was “ahead” of former Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa when it came to corruption.

Addressing people at Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Gruh here, he said that the Comptroller General’s report mentioned that the Modi government had indulged in corruption worth Rs 26,650 in different scams.

“The people of Gujarat have now realised that why the government is making desperate attempts to stall the process of appointment of Lokayukta… Modi’s own minister, Vajubhai Vala, had admitted in the Assembly that the appointment of Justice (retd) R A Mehta as Lokayukta was as per rules and regulation,” Gohil said after the public address.

On credibility of Justice Mehta, he said, “When Anna Hazare had come to Gujarat, he stayed with R A Mehta, which shows the credibility of the person who is chosen as the Lokayukta. But unfortunately, Modi not only wants to remove Mehta from his position but has also change the law by passing an ordinance,” he added.
