Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend a programme for distributing artificial limbs and assisting devices to over 8,000 Divyangs (differently abled) in Vadodara on October 22, Gujarat government said on Tuesday.
The event will be jointly organised by the Central Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur, and Vadodara district administration, an official release said.
In this mega camp, Modi will distribute artificial limbs and various aides and devices to 8,000 Divyang citizens from Vadodara and nearby Chhota Udepur district.
Ahead of the camp, officials of ALIMCO and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment held a meeting today with Vadodara District Collector Lochan Sehra to chalk out a plan for organising the event, it said.
This will be Modi’s fourth visit in last two months to Gujarat, where Assembly elections are scheduled to be held next year.
On September 17, which was his 66th birthday, Modi was in the tribal district of Dahod to inaugurate various irrigation and drinking water projects.
On the same day, he attended the Social Empowerment Camp organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to distribute aids and assisting devices to Divyang citizens.
Last month, Modi had visited Gujarat twice — once to condole the death of Sawminarayan saint Pramukhswami Maharaj at Botad district and second time to inaugurate the ambitious Sauni irrigation scheme in Jamnagar district.
