Modi attacks Congress on poverty

Amravati, October 12: Attacking the Congress on the campaign trail here, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today charged it with failing to remove poverty despite having ruled the country for most of the years after independence.

“Nehru-Gandhi family member was Prime Minister for most of the years after independence, even then why poverty remains in the country today?” Modi asked voters at a huge public meeting.

The meeting was organised to campaign for BJP-SS candidates — Pradip Shingore (Amravati constituency) and Sudhir Suryawanshi (Badnera) — at Science Core Ground in Amravati.

Criticising Congress, Modi said the Centre should tell people what it has done for them. “Congress now talks about the poor and Prince Rahul is going to huts of the poor. We welcome it.
