Gandhinagar, March 10: The Gujarat government today appointed senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel to the Gujarat State Haj Committee.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s government had last month appointed Patel to the Gujarat State Wakf Board. This is the second appointment for Patel, who hails from Gujarat, in a state committee.
A release issued by the state government today said that it had appointed 13 members to the Gujarat State Haj Committee, including Ahmed Patel.
When Patel was appointed as a member of state Wakf Board, he had expressed his inability to work in that position.
Patel, who is Political Secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, had then said that he had neither been consulted nor been told formally about the appointment.
It is to be seen whether he would take up this new responsibility.
