Lucknow: As southwest monsoon continues to remain active, most places in Uttar Pradesh received light to moderate rain today even as major rivers Sharda, Ghaghra and Rapti were flowing at dangerous levels or above it at different points in the state.
According to the MeT department, heavy rains occurred at isolated places in the state.
Baheri recorded 9 cm of rainfall followed by Fatehpur (8), Banda, Chandradeepghat, Kanpur and Mishrikh (7cm each), Kalpi, Rath, Mawana (6cm each).
Allahabad, Balrampur, Bindaki, Jamania, Hardoi, Bani, Mirzapur, Sultanpur and Purwa recorded 5 cm of rainfall each.
The MeT department has forecast likely rain or thundershower at most places in the state with heavy rain at isolated places tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Central Water Commission said Sharda which was rising menacingly, was flowing well above the red mark at Palia and Ghaghra continued to flow above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar.
Rapti was flowing well above the danger mark at Balrampur, they said, adding it was touching the danger level at Rigauli and Bird Ghat. Budi Rapti was also flowing at red mark in Kakrahi and Uska Bazar.
