Moderate to heavy rainfall at many places in Bihar

Patna:Moderate to heavy rainfall occurred at many places in Bihar today.

As per Met bulletin, Patna and Bhagalpur registered 26.5 mm and 50.9 mm rain in past 24 hours (recorded between 8:30 am on Saturday to 8:30 am on Sunday).

Gaya recorded 11.8 mm rainfall in past 24 hours, it added.

Places like Cheria Bariyarpur received 14 cm, while Barh received 9 cm, Triveni and Bhabhua 8 cm each. Motihari, Baltara, Gogri, Jhajha recorded 7 cm of rainfall each, it said.

Purnea recorded the highest maximum temperature at 34.0 degree Celsius, followed by 32.8 degree Celsius in Bhagalpur, 31 degree Celsius in Patna and 29.1 degree Celsius in Gaya, Met office said.

Rains in past 24 hours in some cities including major cities brought down the maximum temperature by few notches thus giving much needed respite to the people from sultry weather especially in the state capital.

Gaya recorded four degrees below the normal maximum temperature while the state capital witnessed two degrees below its normal maximum, it said.

In its forecast, Met office said that Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea will witness generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunder shower tomorrow.
