Moderate to heavy rainfall likely this week

Due to the strong westerly to northwesterly moist winds from Arabian Sea during the week, moderate to heavy rain/thundershowers occurred at many places over the State on June 4  , 7  and 8. The highest rainfall of 105mm was recorded at Beerpur (Jagtial) on June 7 during the week. Heat wave conditions abated from all over the State and the maximum temperatures are recorded less than 38°C over most parts of the state during the week.

Forecast for next week

Based on the Weather Model run at TSDPS of Planning Department and other available numerical guidance from National Centers (IMD and other centers), it indicates that, with the formation of low pressure system over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast and expected strengthening of monsoon flow over the state, above normal rainfall activity is likely continue during the next one week over the State.

Sixteen districts — Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Nalgonda, Yadadri- Bhongiri, Warangal (U), Warangal (R), Jangaon, Medak, Siddipet, Sangareddy will experience light to moderate rainfall at a few places from June 10 to 16. During the same period, 15 districts — Adilabad, Komrambhem- Asifabab, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Rajanna-Sircilla, Peddapalle, Jagtial, Mancherial, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet will experience moderate to heavy rainfall at a few places, according to Y V Rama Rao, consultant (weather forecast/analysis) TSDPS.
