Moderate earthquake jolts Nepal

Kathmandu: A moderate earthquake of 5.6 magnitude jolted capital city Kathmandu and the rest of other parts of Nepal at 5.20 a.m. local time on Monday, forcing people to rush out of their homes in panic.

The epicentre was located in the bordering area of Solukhumbu and Ramechhap Districts in northern Nepal, Xinhua news agency quoted the National Seismological Centre as saying.

Tremors were felt also in Pokhara, Chitwan and many parts of the Himalayan nation. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

Hundreds of aftershocks with four or more magnitude have been recorded so far since last year’s devastating earthquake that killed over about 9,000 people and left thousands injured.
