In a country where Cricket and Bollywood are two religions, it is the budding models who use these religions through some controversy to become famous, says Vinitha Menon.
Menon, a budding model herself, says that models specially find it easy get noticed this way. They either become a part of a silly controversy or get linked to a famous cricketer so that they are able to grab attention even in the most popular cricket series like IPL.
Menon says, “Every model wants to become famous, and a short and sure formula to it is through controversy.”
She alleges that since cricket is the most famous game in India, it is simplest way to gain publicity.
“Most of the models have started using this ultimate formula (cricket+controversy) to become famous,” she alleges.
“There are many such examples like Rozlyn Khan, Poonam Pandey, Nupur Mehta, and Sherlyn Chopra …etc who took this path to become famous,” she says.
It must be noted here that it was the 2011 Cricket World Cup which made a then unknown Poonam Pandey, an overnight sensation. She had claimed to strip if India won the tournament. India did but Poonam backed off from her promise.
