DGP V. Dinesh Reddy today visited the Banjara Hills police station and inspected the Model House and the women’s help center set up in the station on an experimental basis.
Speaking to the media later, Dinesh Reddy said these facilities would soon be extended to other stations in the State. He said a total surveillance camera set up was made in the Model House and with this, the way police talk to the complainants would be examined thoroughly. He also said that a complaint box would be made available in all the police stations.
Asked about the investigation on former minister Dr P. Shankar Rao, he said Additional DG Krishna Prasad was heading the investigation. He said they would first ascertain who was at fault and proceed accordingly.
‘Shankar not cooperating’
Meanwhile, Krishna Prasad, who also visited the Banjara Hills police station, told the media that Shankar Rao was not cooperating with the investigating officers. He said they tried to question him twice in the Care hospital and would make one more attempt later on Tuesday. He said they had requested the government to get Shankar Rao examined by either CBI or a sitting judge. He said if Shankar Rao does not cooperate with the police, they would seek more time.
DCP Sudhir Babu, ACP Shankar Reddy and other officers also participated in the investigation. (NSS)
