Hyderabad: For the first time in the history of India, Election Commission is planning to release an app through which citizens can record their complaints in case they see any violation of Model Code of Conduct.
Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Rajat Kumar informed that this act has been named “cvigil”.
He told that every citizen can play an active role in conducting elections in the fair manner. He further told that this application is user friendly. It will be launched very soon in Telangana. This app requires android. The citizens can click the picture or video, describe the event in a few words and upload it on app. This information will reach District Control Room from where it will be sent to field unit which is called cvigildispatcher. With the help of GPS, the field unit will mail a report of the action taken to the concerned Returning Officer.
The officials told that this application has inbuilt characteristics which avoids its wrong usage. It will receive complaints pertaining to violation of Model Code of Conduct. Within five minutes of lodging the complaint, a report will be provided to the user. This app will not permit to upload pre-recorded images or visuals.
