Mock drill in Goa exposes shortcomings in security

Panaji, November 06: The joint mock drill conducted by Goa Police and Indian Coast Guard exposed the shortcomings in the system with two decoy terrorists managing to enter the vital installation in the port town of Vasco despite the alert today, officials said.

Two decoy terrorists were planted in the Arabian sea who were to enter Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) at Vasco. The ICG and state police were alerted.

“The terrorists managed to catch hold of fishermen and landed at the jetty situated inside the MPT, which has been declared as one of the vital installations,” a police official confirmed.

The duo sneaked in through Khariwado jetty, a fish landing spot, which was earlier labelled as a security hazard by the MPT management itself.
