New Delhi, October 13: Delhi Police today told a court here that mobile phones were being operated from high-security Tihar jail despite jammers.
“Several mobile phones were working within Tihar jail complex and there is a possibility of mobile jammers not working properly. There is material on records that mobile network was working within the jail and inmates might contact their relatives from the jail,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Yadav said.
Taking a serious view of the contentions of the police, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja sought a report from the Director General (Prisons) seeking an explanation as to whether jammers were installed in Tihar complex and whether they were working properly.
The court sought the report from the official by October 21 in this regard.
