Mobile phones banned at AMU convocation

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University Convocation will witness tight security in view of the arrival of President Ramnath Kovind. The convocation scheduled to be held on March 7 will be graced by president Kovind as the chief guest. Mobile phones will not be allowed during the programme. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Agra Zone Ajay Anand inspected the venue and pandal from where President Kovind will address, on Thursday. He objected to use of polyester cloth to make pandal as it is susceptible to fire. He also inspected cricket pavilion where president’s helicopter will land.

Amer Mantu (president, students struggle Committee for the reservation of Muslim) slammed AMU administration for the event. He said that the fund is wasted in the name of the arrival of the president which is unfortunate.
