Sixteen people have been arrested after a mob set a roadways bus afire and pelted stones on vehicles to protest a 13-hour-long power cut in some areas of the district, police said here today.
The protestors had blocked the Gorakhpur-Lucknow highway at around midnight yesterday for about half an hour against
the power cut, they said, adding that police had to resort to lathicharge for dispersing them.
There was allegedly no electricity from 11 AM yesterday to a little after midnight causing a shortage in drinking
water among other things.
