Hyderabad, November 15: A petrol pump owner was seriously injured in an attack by three robbers who made a vain bid to snatch a bag which contained Rs 7 lakh at Canara Bank’s Shivarampally branch here today.
Ranjendranagar police said Mohammed Sadiq, owner of Janatha Petrol Station, went to Canara Bank to deposit Rs 7 lakh with the bank. The bank is located on the first floor and Sadiq was climbing the steps. Suddenly, three persons emerged, attacked him with a knife and snatched the cash bag from him.
When Sadiq raised an alarm, locals chased the robbers, caught one of them who was fleeing with the cash bag and handed him over to the Rajendranagar police. But police have denied that one of the accused is in their custody.
“Sadiq suffered grievous injuries and was taken to a hospital. The cash was intact in the bag and the police are making efforts to nab the trio,’’ Rajendranagar inspector K Ramboopal Rao told.
