Mob hurls bombs at train; driver, 2 passengers injured

Jamui (Bihar), August 01: A train driver and two passengers were injured when crude bombs and stones were hurled at the engine and next bogie of Muzaffarpur-Sealdah Express between Jhajha and Simultala railway stations in Bihar’s Jamui district tonight.

Police said around 12 persons threw stones at the engine targetting the driver and later hurled crude bombs towards the next bogie forcing the train to stop at Rajla halt. The assailants managed to flee before security personnel could reach the spot.

Driver J P Paswan and two passengers were injured in the attack, the cause of which was unclear, they said.

The injured were admitted to Jhajha Railway Hospital while the train remained stranded at Rajla halt for about an hour before resuming its onward journey to Sealdah, police said.

Raids were conducted at many places in the area to apprehend those behind the incident.
