Legal counsel of a multinational company was allegedly assaulted and threatened with a knife by three men outside the Supreme Court.
The three accused, identified as Anoop Das (22), Nitin (22) and Ajay (26), have been arrested, police said today.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon when the lawyer after a court hearing was about to leave in his car along with a female colleague when the trio forcibly opened the vehicle’s door and started thrashing him.
“The attackers while attacking him said that he was being punished for not paying heed to their warnings against fighting a case against their boss. They also threatened him with a knife,” said a police official.
As a crowd started gathering at the spot, the three men tried to flee but the lawyer caught one of them after chasing him to some distance while the other two were caught by policemen deployed nearby.
They were arrested by the staff of Tilak Marg Police Station after an FIR under relevant sections of the IPC was registered there.
“We are trying to identify the person who had hired these men to attack the lawyer. Further investigations are on,” the official said.
