The Muslim Minority Reservation Porata Samithi has demanded that the State government order arrest of former minister for Minority Welfare Mohammed Ali Shabbir, who allegedly committed grave irregularities and allotted Wakf lands to private firms and K.M. Arifuddin, who misused Wakf Board land.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, MMRPS founder-president Taher Kamal Khundmiri alleged that Shabbir had illegally allotted Wakf Board land to the Lanco Hills at Manikonda. He said that five prime properties in the heart of the city belong to the society called “Majlis-e-Shura Dasti Parcha Bafi Hermain constituted in 1932 with an aim to train youths of Madina-e-Munawara in manual hand weaving by expert artisans with required material and infrastructure.
Khundmiri alleged that K.M. Arifuddin functioned like sole owner of all the Wakf properties. The matter came to light after many complaints were lodged and finally it was brought before the House Committee for Wakf Properties. The House Committee recommended a high-level inquiry into criminal offences of K.M. Arifuddin and disciplinary action against secretary Kamaluddin Ali Khan, former secretary Wakf Board Mohd Laiq Ali Khan.
He alleged that Arifuddin made himself secretary of Madina Educational Society and also named himself secretary/Muttawalli of Majlis-e-Shoora Dasthi Parcha Bafi Harmain Shareefain constituted during 1932 and registered under Wakf Board in 1938. He demanded that the government order his immediate arrest on non-bailable warrant for the offence of hampering the aims, objectives and purpose of Wakf Board and misappropriating funds and properties by tampering with records of the institutions established in the building.
MMRPS chief advisor Moulana Syed Hamed Hussain Shuttari and vice-president Mohammed Hamed Ali were also present. (NSS)
