Hyderabad, July 01: N Vidyasagar, a Congress Member of Legislative Council (MLC), who represents local bodies from Nalgonda, emulated his more illustrious colleague when he took the law into his own hands on Monday night. Along with 30 of his followers, he forced his way into a realtor’s office near Sushma theatre at Vanasthalipuram and drove away the staff following a dispute with the realtor.
Criminal cases were booked against the MLC by the Cyberabad police who also arrested 13 of his followers.
According to police, Vidyasagar gave a loan of Rs 60 lakh to Narasimha Reddy, who runs the Ratna Real Estate, two years ago.
Narasimha Reddy issued a General Power of Attorney (GPA) for a 17-acre plot at Masaiahpet in the name of Vidyasagar’s wife, Kamala, as collateral security. Narasimha Reddy was supposed to repay the loan in a year. As he could not, he asked Vidyasagar to sell the land.
Vidyasagar, however, insisted that the money be returned to him.
‘‘Both had been holding talks over the matter for sometime.
Last night, Vidyasagar and his associates laid a siege to the realtor’s office. They threatened the staff and forced them out,’’ Vanasthalipuram police inspector Madhu Mohan said.
Narasimha Reddy, who was not present in his office at the time, rushed to the police station with a complaint. Soon after, the police went to his office.
About 17 of the MLC’s associates fled from the scene but 13 were caught. Vidyasagar had left the place by the time the police arrived.
Cases were slapped against Vidyasagar under Section 448 (trespassing) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation).
