MLA urges Harish to order release of water to save withering crops

Telangana TDP legislator from Sathupalli in Khammam district S Venkata Veeraiah today urged the State government to release water from Paleru reservoir in Khammam district through Nagarjuna Sagar Project twice a day to save standing crops and lives of farmers.

 

In a letter to Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday, Venkata Veeraiah stated that the farmers of Khammam district near Paderu reservoir were not  getting good crops and their crops were withering for want of adequate water. Under the circumstances, the crops in one lakh acres were withering putting the toiling farmers in a quandary. “Therefore, I request you to accord permission to Irrigation officials to release water two times from Paderu reservoir through Nagarjuna Sagar so that the farmers can save their crops”, the Sathupalli legislator stated.
