“Miyan Kal Aana”: Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s short film on “Halala” triggers row

Lucknow: Clerics of Deoband slammed short film “Miyan Kal Aana” which is based on “Halala”.

According to the report published in Hindustan Times, this movie is produced by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and was released on YouTube on 18th January 2018.

It is also reported that the movie is directed by his brother Nawabuddin.

Reacting on the movie, Chairman of Fatwa Online of Deoband, Maulana Arshad Farooqui told that Nawazuddin lacks knowledge of “Shariat”. Targeting the actor, he said that if “Halala” is illegitimate then making and watching movies is also illegitimate.

Meanwhile, manager of Nawazuddin said that the intention behind making the movie was to create awareness.

Anoop Shashikant Pandey, manager of the actor claimed that the intention is fulfilled as it was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

Qazi Rohan of Madarsa Abibul Uloom also slammed Nawauddin and his brother for interfering in “Shariat”.

On the other hand, Shaista Amber, Head of All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board (AIMWPLB) expressed her desire to screen this movie in villages.
