Hyderabad, January 28: The mystery behind a milk businessman from Bholakpur who went missing two weeks back was unraveled today. Police said the businessman, N Dayanand Yadav (21) was kidnapped and later murdered by his rivals. His body was dumped in the river Musi on the outskirts of the city and is yet to be recovered.
According to police, Dayanand was friends with a youngster, B Srinivas, who was also a milk businessman a few years back. Two years ago, the duo had a quarrel over a petty issue but it was sorted out with the intervention of local community leaders.
But since then, the families of both were at loggerheads and bore grudge against each other. Two months back, Srinivas committed suicide by consuming poison for some unknown reason.
“Since Srinivas’s death, Dayanand’s milk business grew in a big way. This added to the grudge that Srinivas’s family had aginst him and they decided to kill him,” Task Force DCP V B Kamalasan Reddy said.
Srinivas’s father, 60-year Mallesh and the deceased’s brothers, Krishna and Srisailam, decided to eliminate Dayanand and sought the help of three others, A Ashok, A Sai Kumar and C Bhanu, all residents of Bhoiguda. Bhanu is a degree student.
The accused monitored Dayanand’s movements and on January 11, five of the accused kidnapped Dayanand from Padma Rao Nagar and took him to Uppal where the other accused also joined them. From Uppal, they shifted Dayanand to a remote place at Gourelli village in Pratap Singaram of the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.
“The accused beat Dayanand up severely with sticks and later strangled him. Later, they even threw petrol on him and set him ablaze. After the body was burnt partially, they threw the body into the nearby Musi river,” Kamalasan Reddy said.
Police today arrested the six accused and said efforts are on to trace the body. “The body might had been washed away in the flow of water,” the DCP said.
