Missing AK-47 rifles found, revolver still untraced

Two of the three missing weapons of the bodyguards of Jharkhand Excise Minister Jaiprakash Bhai Patel were recovered here today, police said.

The two AK-47 rifles and cartridges of Jharkhand Armed Police Havildars, Kishan Rai and Indra Kumar Chhetri, were
found hidden in the hedges behind a school near the Inspection Bungalow (from where they disappeared),” SP Manoj Kaushik told a news conference.

The police recovered the two sophisticated weapons following a tip-off, he said.

The two jawans were not involved in the case, he added and said the police suspected the alleged involvement of the two drivers, Bhubanesar Mahto and Anil Kumar, of private escort vehicles.

The SP said the revolver of Special Branch Officer Navnit Tiwari is yet to be found.

On November 24, the personnel and the drivers had retired for the day after dropping the minister at his residence in
the town and reported to their seniors that their weapons had gone missing when they woke up in the morning.

On November 28, a local court had allowed the police request for brain mapping and narco tests on all the five men.
