Guwahati, January 09:Corruption in the country has reached unprecedented heights due to “misrule and bad economic policies of the UPA government”, BJP president Nitin Gadkari said here today.
“The Congress led UPA government’s misrule and bad economic policy has resulted in large scale corruption, security threat and price rise”, Gadkari told a massive rally at the end of the two-day national executive meet here.
The BJP president alleged that ruling Congress leaders in Assam have shown that they were no less corrupt than their counterparts in New Delhi.
We urge the people of Assam to dethrone the corrupt Congress government in the state which has been involved in several scandals including the multi-crore North Cachar hills development council funds,” he said.
Taking note of allegations levelled by rights activist Akhil Gogoi “that chief minister Tarun Gogoi owns five buildings in the United States,” Gadkari dared the chief minister to file a defamation suite if the charges are false.
The BJP leader also dwelt on the charges of corruption against the UPA government and claimed 10 lakh farmers had committed suicide due to wrong policies.
