It seems that the attempts to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the city have started once again VHP leader Yaman Singh participated in the Pooja at Bhagyalakshmi Temple adjacent to Charminar along with 15 of his followers. The Pooja was performed in connection with Hanuman Chaleesa.
Police had made elaborate arrangements around Makkah masjid yesterday in view of Friday prayer. At 11:30 am Yaman Singh and his supporters who were clad in saffron clothes, reached Bhagyalakshmi Temple. On this sudden mischief of VHP activists, police staff became alert.
Yaman Singh performed Pooja in the temple for half an hour and shouted the slogans “Jai Shree Ram”. It may be noted that many criminal cases were registered against Yaman Singh in connection with communal riots erupted in 2010.
Reliable sources indicated that the Hindu fundamentalists and VHP activists are planning to take out rallies on a large scale on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami falling on 19th April.
It may be noted that last year, communal riots started with Bhagyalakshmi Temple issue. Many Muslim youths were arrested. Police posted a picket at the temple so that any untoward and unpleasant incident could be avoided.
Police personnel got worried when VHP activists suddenly started Aarthi Pooja in the temple. These sources informed that in many temples of the old city “Ram Japam” is being organized so that the activists could be persuaded to join Rama Navami programmes.
Hindu organizations are planning to organize programmes on mass scale for showing their strength. They are also planning to invite some great VHP leaders to address these gatherings on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami.
