Paris: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis on Sunday were crashed out of the French Open after suffering a straight-set defeat at the hands of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova of Czech Republic here at the Roland Garros.
The top seeded Indo-Swiss pair was defeated 6-3, 6-2 against the un-seeded Czech Republican pair in the third round contest of the women’s doubles event.
Sania and Hingis were aiming to be the first team to hold all four majors simultaneously since Serena and Venus Williams in 2010.
Earlier this month, the top-ranked pair captured their 14th women’s doubles title together at the Italian Open in Rome. (ANI)
