Since the post of Principal Secretary Minority Welfare Department is vacant for the past one month, the Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Ahmedullah has left for Singapore to spend the holidays. Thus the department has no head at the moment. So till the return of Minority Welfare Ministers officials of Minority Welfare Minister will enjoy liberty. When asked about the settlement of files during the absence of minister and principal secretary, a staff member of the department told that till the return of the concerned minister the department will virtually have holidays. He told that Mohammed Ahmedullah has left for Singapore along with his family members for one week and will return on May 15.
With the release of new budget the officials of minority welfare department have started lavishly using the budget for various expenditures. A total of Rs. 43,876 has been sanctioned for various expenditures. Ironically no file is being forwarded in the department in the absence of principal secretary, but Rs. 13070 have been sanctioned to obtain costly pens, ball pens and pen stands from a private company. Rs. 18176 have been spent on purchase of thermos flask, cup saucers and glasses and Rs. 12630 have been released to a company for supplying towels and napkins.
