Hyderabad: Preparations are in full swing in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State to celebrate Minority Welfare Day on November 11, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. One of the prominent personalities from each state will be presented Maulana Abu Kalam Azad National Award on the day.
In Telangana the function will be held at Nizam College Ground in which students of Minority Residential Schools will participate. Committee of experts recommended 4 names for the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Award. According to reliable sources, the four names recommended to the government for the award include noted cardiologist Dr. Mohammed Hyder Khan, Editor Rehnuma-e-Deccan, Mr. Syed Viqaruddin Quadri, noted writer and former Director General Doordarshan Mr. Manzoorul Ameen and Mr. Raheemuddin Kamal.
Following consultation with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali will pick one name. It must be noted that the award will consist of cash of Rs. 1 lakh and 25 thousand, a citation and a memento.
Earlier the award has been presented to Prof. Ashraf Rafi, Prof. Sulaiman Siddiqui, Mr. Rahman Jami and Mr. Ghyasuddin Babu Khan.
